Where the action takes place
Gonzalez goes south to the Costa del Sol, north to Asturias, and at one point to Las Vegas in the USA. But this is the territory where he wreaks his own band of comic havoc. (Imagine the train driver at Gata de Gorgos, waiting patiently for the Guardia Civil to say his train can move on—when they have completely forgotten him.)

Names
Some of the names on this map are slightly different from the names in Harry's book. They are the real Valencian spellings, which the Mayor probably uses—rather than the made-up Castilian spellings imposed from Madrid by Franco, which maybe Captain Alonzo prefers—with his nostalgia for Franco and Castilian rule from the centre.

So it’s Benigembla and Xaló—the real names—rather than Benichembla or Jalón—spellings imposed by one of Franco’s officials.

But wait a minute. Calpe? Shouldn’t that be Calp? (Ah well, this is Spain.)
